Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) is Feb. 1-7, 2019. In support of this year’s campaign “Eating Disorders Can’t Afford to Wait!” Interior Health is helping to create awareness by offering an exclusive free movie screening of The Illusionist, an award-winning documentary about the globalization of beauty and the dark side of advertising.
The Illusionist exposes how multi-million dollar industries saturate people’s lives with images of unattainable beauty, fueling insecurity and body hatred. The Illusionists turns the mirror on media, exposing the absurd, sometimes humorous, and shocking images that seek to enslave women, men and children.
No time to attend the movie screening? No problem, you can still support EDAW by wearing purple the week of Feb. 1-7 or snap a photo of yourself with one of the many landmarks across BC that will be lit purple during awareness week. Share your photo on social media using #EDAW2019 #ShowPurpleLove
